Animals at Woolfest
Woolfest is known for its fine display of fibre producing animals including several rare breeds, local Cumbrian fell sheep breeds and plenty of experts, farmers and breeders to talk to too.
Sheep breeds at Woolfest 2011 included:
Ouessant, Hebridean, Ryeland, Coloured Ryeland, Jacob, Herdwick, Wensleydale, Teeswater, Shetland, Gotland, North Ronaldsay, Manx Loagthan and an information display by the Coloured Sheep Breeders (no animals).
We also had alpacas, angora goats and angora rabbits.
Peter Titley from the Rare Breeds Survival Trust hosted a "parade" of rare breeds in the main ring and a brief introduction to some of the key breeds represented at Woolfest 2011.
We love having fleece animals at the event and they are always a big draw, especially for families. Please help us to keep the area clean and everyone safe by using the disinfection points.
