Woolfest wouldn’t happen without amazing support from a huge number of people and organisations.
The event is organised by members of The Wool Clip, a Cumbrian cooperative and it involves over 100 volunteers, more than 150 stallholders, farmers who bring their fleeces to sell, breed societies from across the UK, local musicians playing in aid of charity and a wide range of friends and partners who contribute towards making this an amazing and ever-changing event.
Without their help, we couldn’t tell the whole story of wool, from animal and fleece to yarn and finished textiles.
In recent years, to recognise some of these amazing contributions, members of The Wool Clip have been rewarding certain stallholders with quirky awards – all wool related. These aren’t necessarily to mark the “best” but to recognise the people and businesses who have particularly contributed their energy, shared their enthusiasm or just been flexible or great to work with as Woolfest has taken shape.
Past winners have included baa ram ewe, Window of Woolly Wonders, The Saori Shed, Hof Kornrade, Easyknits.co.uk and Sew Sister. 2015's worthy winner was Ananuca. In 2016 the winner was the Woolly Pedlar with her fab recycling clothing and home textiles.
Thank you to everyone involved for helping us to tell the whole story of wool.
